The Other Road
Work is like gardening, You can either grow beautiful plants, or weeds. Some people will try and rewrite their history so that their weeds magically become beautiful plants.
The rewriting of history is a part of human nature. How many famous historical characters were in reality nothing more than a bunch of scumbags,
A good example is Justinian and his wife Theodora, and the way that they treated their faithful general and servant Count Belisarius.
For those that have never heard of Belisarius, he was a general on par with the greats such as Julius Cesare. The difference between the two was money. Cesare was so rich that he did not have to rely on the Roman Senate for money, while Belisarius had only to rely on the meanness and greed of Justinian and Justinian’s ennate jealously of anybody that was better than himself.
Poor Belisarius was blinded and reduced to almost poverty. It was his faithful friends that helped save him from a death in the gutter.
If you would like to read more about Belisarius and his incredible life, I would suggest that you read Robert Grave’s book “Count Belisarius”, or a more contemporary source, Procopius.

Flowers or weeds. What do you want in your life.
